FlowTime's paid plans are now easier to try
Thank you, as always, for using FlowTime.
In a previous announcement, I introduced FlowTime's paid plans as $6 per month for Pro and $12 per month for Premium. Since then, more people have started using the app, and I began to feel that the first step should be easier to try.
So I have reviewed the paid plans and changed the pricing to $1 per month for Pro and $3 per month for Premium.
The Free plan remains free. The timer, task management, and basic stats are still available so you can try the app first without paying.
Why I reviewed the pricing
To be honest, I hesitated a lot before adding paid plans.
FlowTime was originally built as an app that lets you start focusing without friction. I did not want pricing to make it harder for people to begin using it.
At the same time, features like login, cloud sync, stats storage, and Google Calendar integration all create ongoing operating costs. Servers, data storage, external service integrations, and payment maintenance all continue every month as long as the app is public.
And to be equally honest, there are still not many paid subscribers yet.
Even so, the number of people using FlowTime has been growing little by little. Through surveys and feedback, I have started receiving comments like "I want this feature" and "It would help if I could use it this way." I have been looking at that feedback and working hard to improve the app while asking how it can be easier to use, and how the free plan can still feel valuable.
Projects, cloud sync, the stats dashboard, Kanban, export, and Google Calendar integration are all features that were added step by step through that process. None of them are flashy, but I felt they were necessary for recording daily focus and reviewing it later.
However, the more features the app has, the more operating costs and maintenance work it needs. To keep as much value as possible available for free while continuing the app over the long term, the paid plans also needed to become something people can reasonably choose.
This time, instead of trying to price the app high, I prioritized making it easy for people who use FlowTime every day to continue using it. That is why Pro is now $1 per month, and Premium is now $3 per month.
FlowTime is a tool for supporting focus. I do not want the tool itself to become a burden. My current view is that this shape fits FlowTime best: keep the starting price low, let people try it first, and offer paid features only to those who feel they need them.
New pricing
Pro and Premium both support monthly and annual plans. Annual plans are two months cheaper than paying monthly for 12 months.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | People who want to start for free |
| Pro | $1 | $10 | People who use projects and stats day to day |
| Premium | $3 | $30 | People who want long-term review and data export |
What you can do on Free
The Free plan still includes FlowTime's core features.
- Unlimited tasks
- Up to 3 projects, excluding Inbox
- Kanban mode is available for viewing only
- Stats dashboard supports TODAY and WEEK
- Data sync with Google login
- Forgotten timer prevention and custom streaks
If you want to try the Flowtime Technique first, or if reviewing your focus time by week is enough, you can start with the Free plan.
What you can do on Pro
Pro is for people who want to use FlowTime for daily task management and review.
| Feature | What Pro unlocks |
|---|---|
| Projects | Unlimited project creation |
| Kanban | Not only viewing, but also moving and managing tasks |
| Stats dashboard | TODAY, WEEK, and MONTH |
| Export | Export up to 31 days of data as CSV or JSON |
| Google Calendar integration | Save Focus and Break sessions as calendar events |
For example, Pro is a good fit if you want to separate projects for work, study, and side projects, or if you want to review focus time by month.
What you can do on Premium
Premium is for people who want to review their focus logs over a longer period. It includes everything in Pro.
| Feature | What Premium unlocks |
|---|---|
| Stats dashboard | Full range, including YEAR and ALL YEAR |
| All-time summary | See long-term focus trends in one place |
| Export | Export CSV or JSON with no date range limit |
Premium is a good fit if you want to review your focus rhythm over six months or a year, or if you want to move work logs into Notion, spreadsheets, or analysis tools.
About Google Calendar integration
Pro and Premium include Google Calendar integration.
When this feature is turned on, Focus and Break sessions recorded in FlowTime can be saved as Google Calendar events.
This makes it easier to look back at when you were focused and how much you rested on your calendar. It also makes it easier to compare your planned schedule with your actual work time, including days with many meetings, days when work moved forward, and days when you did not take enough breaks.
Which plan should you choose?
If you are unsure, choose like this:
- Choose Free if you want to try FlowTime first
- Choose Pro if you want more projects, full Kanban operations, and monthly review
- Choose Premium if you want yearly review and long-term CSV or JSON export
FlowTime can still be used as a basic focus timer for free. The paid plans are additional features for people who want to organize their work more carefully and review it over a longer period.
Payments and cancellation
Payments are handled through Stripe Checkout. FlowTime does not store your card information.
After subscribing, you can review billing information, change your card, or cancel from the Stripe customer portal. If you cancel, you can still use paid features until the end of the current subscription period.
I will continue improving FlowTime so it becomes easier to focus with and easier to keep using.
